Building on the strong tradition of rigorous, high-quality doctoral training on democracy initiated by external pageNCCR Democracy, the external pageDoctoral Programme Democracy Studies (DPDS) is integrated into the subject group Social Sciences under the newly established Graduate School of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences at the University of Zurich.

DPDS supports the study of diverse and multifaceted, qualitative and quantitative approaches to the phenomenon of democracy and its manifestations. For this DPDS offers a new integrated external pagecurriculum for graduate candidates aiming to acquire solid and transdisciplinary training with specific modules on the theory, methods and empirical approaches to democracy, in combination with other external pagecomplementary activities.

In addition to the doctoral degree conferred by the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, the Graduate School will also award a Certificate in Democracy Studies upon completion of the DPDS curriculum.
